I am considering not renewing the EastWest Web Site at the end of this current period. There seems little point in continuing the VA which has clearly run its course, besides which my attention and money are better directed to other activities now.
I'd like to ask if there is anyone who wants to pick up and run with what's left of EastWest? If by some miracle there is, I can supply the Web Site files on CD or DVD. If not then I won't renew the eastwestva domain and dispose of all the hard copy stuff at year's end. _________________ Andrew Watson

It would be tremendously sad to see the end of East West.
I wish I had more to say or to contribute but unfortunately my own personal circumstances prevent me from doing more (things are not going well for me)
Whatever decision you make Andrew I'll support that choice 100% and will always be thankful for the huge contribution you have made to the world of online flying.
BTW after a near 2 year absence I'm again flying online and am using and will continue to use EWA533 as my call sign. _________________

Michael, I'm game to hood up for a flight online if you are ... Auckland to Apia maybe? Not this weekend though - F1 Grand Prix. Oh, and I fly as EWA2 still _________________ Andrew Watson

Andrew,
I've managed to secure a reliable internet connection so I can be available to fly that Auckland - Apia flight we've been talking about.
Please get in touch and we'll book a time that suits us both.
BTW I was chatting with John Lucas today, he was flying the EastWest flag as well.
We aren't all gone just yet my friend. _________________

I'm keeping an open mind on it, Michael. I did want to finish the Cargo review which has been on hold for quite a while now. We might just stay open for a while longer.
What day of the week and time best suits you for the flight? _________________ Andrew Watson

G'day AW,
It has been a long time since we had a yarn. Before closing the books, I will give it consideration even if it is a caretaker role for the time being. You can catch me at my home email if you like. It would be good to catch up.
Cheers

As I'm not working at present I can fit in with your time frames Andrew, so have a look at your diary and see what best suits you.
Perhaps we can generate a bit of interest and encourage another one or two to join us.
Gregg, do you fancy Coming along for the trip ? _________________

The good news for EastWest is that the Web Site will remain up for another year. When I queried how long before our Domain subscription runs out the rogues put a transaction through. I can live with that.
Gregg, with your agreement I'll set you up with FTP access to do what you like with the Web Site/VA. If it's okay, I'd like to hang around in a supporting role but I won't be contributing nearly as much as I have been. I'll be in touch when I've organised that FTP access for you.
Should anyone be willing to assist Gregg in any way, would you please reply to this thread. EWA lives on ... _________________ Andrew Watson

Folks, I just swung by to backup our database and was reminded that I left some stuff outstanding. Gregg, I did set up your FTP access but I can't recall sending you the details - that right?
While I'm having a hell of a time with FS9 and CTDs which have really put me off the whole fltsim thing, I'm just wondering about opening the VA up to anyone who is willing to run it. Whether that be Gregg, Michael, Roscoe, and/or anyone else with an interest is resurrecting EWA, I would love to see someone run with it.
I'm still hoping to complete the Cargo review I began some years ago now and move up to FSX to avail of OrbX. Lads, we've had some great times and I think there's room to take a step forward here. What are your thoughts?
Btw, does anyone know what happened to VirtualVFR? _________________ Andrew Watson

Sad to see the demise of EastWest.
Maybe a critical observation of why....
EWA had the potential to be the greatest of Australian VA's... and the worlds.
But no... introduce the influence of one disruptive member (Jones?) and AW lets the VA fall apart. Allows three of its most productive members (3 Musketeers) to resign (and form probably the best Aus VA EVER..)
But no... lets follow the paranoia scenario.. its not us... its them...
those Compass guys with VATPAC (in their pay) are out to get us... lets leave.... Also those bloody unpatriotic KIWIs
Join IVAO... lose our route schedules. lose our pilot roster, lose our VATSIM affiliation, lose our pilot promotion scheme, lose our integrity..
yep.... great work Watson... take a bow... thanks for nothing.

Jeff, with the greatest respect, it sure sounds like you've heard the Three Musketeers' version of events. That's okay. You've had your say. The decision to boot them out was a Board one, by total consensus. Should you wish to have a balanced perspective, feel free to contact me. _________________ Andrew Watson
