Welcome
to the EastWest Operations page. Why an Operations page for a Virtual
Airline (VA) that does not offer a structured career path, flight
allocation and/or bidding or flight reporting, we hear you ask? * Well,
this page will summarise the operational side of our VA in a general
information sense. Full and current details can be found on our
Operations Forum
where announcements are made on flight schedule changes; and news and
information posted on operational reviews, fleet changes etc.
In the transition period this VA is in - moving from EWA Phase 1 to
Phase 2 per the "About Us" page, there is an ongoing review of our
Cargo operations with the 747-400 Freighter schedules being almost
completely rewritten. Progress is slow but that cannot be helped. For
example, as this page is being written the Mumbai- Melbourne leg of
EWF706 is being flown. Extensive route proving for scheduling purposes
has already occurred and still lies ahead. Patience will be rewarded
with a range of virtual cargo flying opportunities representative of
many
real world cargo airline operations. Release of our revised 747F
schedules will be worth the wait, guaranteed.

Boeing 747-400F VH-EBG on the
Melbourne Cargo Apron
Towards the end of 2007, EastWest introduced the A380 into our fleet,
proudly the first VA to do so in a fashion based on real world aviation
events.
Inevitably destined to take the "Queen of the Skies" title away from
the Boeing 747-400, the Airbus A380 now operates on our
Sydney-Singapore route. Real world, a second A380 was delivered to
Singapore Airlines on 11 January which we believe will also be
utilised on SIA's Singapore-Sydney service. EWA will follow suit,
using SIA's type introduction program as our yardstick
which means we will be starting the A380 on the Singapore-London run as
SIA does! When QANTAS begins operating the A380, we will then add the
type to our Melbourne-Los Angeles route in line with QANTAS. Without
going overboard, EastWest will operate the A380 on some of the longer
range, high density passenger routes, basing our flights on selected
real world operations.

The future is here, now! Our
first A380 VH-EBA lands at home base Emerald Lake after a non-stop
ferry from Toulouse.
Just a reminder to anyone reading this through a Web Search on the
A380. We are a virtual airline i.e. we simulate
the operations of a
contemprary real world domestic and international passenger and cargo
operator using Microsoft Flight Simulator. We are NOT a real world
airline.
Our business/charter/corporate/executive operations
(EastWest Corporate) are planned for review in the second half of 2008.
Presently served by the dependable Falcon 50/50EX and awesome Airbus
A319CJ (IFDG-based and arguably the best freeware jet aircraft
available for FS9), consideration will be given to adding the Falcon 7X
or Gulfstream 550 to our long-range executive fleet. With the 2008
Olympic Games upcoming this August and with incredible growth in both
passenger and cargo operations occurring in China (real world), we want
to bring Beijing into non-stop range of our corporate fleet based in
Sydney which is why the 7X and Gulfstream 550 are shortlisted. As with
all the aircraft chosen for the EWA fleet, aircraft will be extensively
test flown before a final purchase decision is made. It largely depends
on how well the available flight models fly. Historically, our fleet
choices set and maintained a high standard and selecting our new
long-range exectutive jet will be no different. Also, we will be
considering a short-to-mid range executive jet along the lines of the
Learjet 60 or Legacy 600 to replace the Falcon 50. EastWest Corporate
will continue to operate the Falcon 50EX for the foreseeable future.

This aircraft is an absolute delight to fly!
So, lots still to happen in this VA which offers much to the Flight
Simulator enthusiast seeking freedom of choice in extending their
flightsim experience whilst not being tied and/or committed to the
"usual" VA. Thanks very much for your interest in EWA. Now, please drop
by our Operations Forum for current information/news on where EastWest
is going.
* Whilst technically true that flight reporting is no longer an EWA
requirement, the FSACARS Flight Reporting System is still in use here
at EastWest. Elsewhere on this Site we clearly broadcast the fact that
you do not have to join EWA to crew our flights
and/or aircraft. However, if you do want us to set up flight
logging for you, drop us a line at ewa@eastwestva.org requesting
addition to our FRS and we will contact you.
For good reason, we feature the
EastWest New Zealand livery on Boeing 747-400, ZK-NBU.
